All in all the Hospice is a comprehensive and integrated system of care for the wider Mandeni area and beyond.
There was a desperate need for an institution like this, as there is not even a hospital nor a hospice and just a handful of medical doctors in the area for more than 250,000 people.
Home care enablement is a vast step to alleviate the sufferings of so many people and to improve their quality of life.
Our idea has found acknowledgement and interest even beyond the boundaries of Africa and is considered a pilot project, because it was not our aim to build and run another bush-hospital, which will be too small anyway however big it may be designed. The exploding figures of the AIDS statistics create a massive flood of terminally ill people, who cannot all be hospitalised. Our Hospice concept wants to relocate the primary nursing care to the patients' home by enabling and supporting the home-nursing-care through training and mobile home-nursing-teams. By doing so we help people to help themselves.
