Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard

Christmas Message 1996

Dear members and friends of our Brotherhood,

This year I feel very much like St. Joseph at Christmas. For a long time he made his way along the difficult road to Bethlehem and even then he had no time to prepare properly for Christmas. The divine child was born, before he could find comfortable accommodation, where all of them would have been able to attend to the holy events. Thanks be to God, the angels took over from St. Joseph to distribute the birth announcement to the whole world. Now I sit at the manger, too. Baby Jesus is full of beans and his disarming smile makes the wrinkles of my failure on my forehead disappear. Unfortunately the angels have more important tasks than distributing my newsletter, so I have to make arrangements with worldly powers and I will just ask the Three Kings to take my wishes and blessings along to you on their way back.

I wish you God's richest blessings for every day of the New Year 1997 and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done in and for our brotherhood.

Yours Fr. Gérard T. Lagleder O.S.B.
