1 April 2009: 5 years Blessed
Gérard's Hospice - HAART Programme - Highly Active Anti Retroviral Therapy
2 April 2009: Meeting of the Board of Directors & Extraordinary
Meeting of the Council of the Dedicated Members of the
Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard: The major decision is to include
Blessed Gérard's Relief Fund,
Blessed Gérard's Bursary Fund,
Blessed Gérard's Poor Sick Fund,
Blessed Gérard's Malnutrition Clinic,
Blessed Gérard's Pre-Primary School & Crèche,
Blessed Gérard's First Aid & Emergency
Service and Blessed Gérard's Disaster
Relief Project into Blessed Gérard's
Care Centre. This became possible through a change in South
African tax law, i.e. that all our charitable purposes are now tax deductible
activities within South Africa. That makes Blessed Gérard's Care Centre now the all inclusive
operational Branch of the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard in Mandeni and we hope
and pray that other branches may develop in different places in due course of

5 April 2009: Children of Blessed Gérard's Children's Home
attend enacted Stations of the Cross at the Greyville Race Course in Durban
11 April 2009: Our oldest member, Father Heribert Ruf O.S.B. celebrates his
97th birthday at Münsterschwarzach Abbey in Germany.
11 April 2009: Baptism of Cebo, Slondeko and Noxolo of
Blessed Gérard's Children's Home in the Easter Vigil Service at
Blessed Gérard's Church.
12 April 2009: Easter outing of Blessed
Gérard's Children's Home to Golden Hours playground in Durban.
15 April 2009: VVIPs at Blessed Gérard's Care Centre: Abbot Godfrey Sieber
O.S.B. of Inkamana Abbey and Abbot Rhabanus Petri O.S.B. of Schweiklberg Abbey /
Germany come for a visit.
16 April 2009: Dedicated Members' Meeting of the
Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard
and Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Blessed Gérard's Care Centre.
17 April 2009: Today we were notified that the Order of Malta's Poste Magistrali
will issue a stamp in September 2009 using a picture (see above) taken at
Blessed Gérard's Pre-Primary School & Crèche. We are absolutely excited!

18 April - 5 August 2009: Father Gérard goes overseas on long
leave (so-called "Home-leave")
18 April 2009: The store room of
Blessed Gerard's Care Centre
was the target of another burglary.
19 April 2009: Father Gérard meets our honorary dedicated members Max & Gabi
Rauecker at St. Ottilien Archabbey in Germany.
20 April 2009: Our member Brother George Ostheimer O.S.B. of Inkamana Abbey
celebrates the 40th anniversary of his missionary assignment.
